Jane Cox (George) served as Kanawha County's representative to the West Virginia Centennial Committee and helped organize the first Mountain State Art & Craft Fair at Cedar Lakes.
1964
Jane Cox (George) helped organized the West Virginia exhibit for the New York World's Fair.
1967
Jane Cox (George) became a 4-H agent in Putnam County and launched a series of Appalachian heritage programs.
Mar 28, 1968
Jane Cox (George) launched the first Mountain Heritage Weekend, held at Hawks Nest State Park.

Jane Cox and musician Frank George were married.
1970
Jane George became a 4-H agent in Mercer County and introduced her heritage programs in that region.
1974
Jane and Frank George were instrumental in founding the Stonewall Jackson Jubilee at Jackson's Mill, Lewis County.
May 27, 1977
Jane and Frank George worked with the West Virginia Department of Culture & History to create the first Vandalia Gathering in Charleston.
1978
Jane George became a 4-H agent in Monroe County and introduced her heritage programs in that region.
1982
Jane George became a 4-H agent in Roane County and introduced heritage programs in her native county.
1984
Jane George retired from the West Virginia Extension Service.
May 29, 1993
Jane George received the Vandalia Award, West Virginia's highest folklife honor.
