The Last Gallows: John Morgan's Farewell

Young John F. Morgan was hanged on Dec. 16, 1897 for the triple murder of Jackson County’s Pfost-Greene family. Citing the “carnival” atmosphere among the crowd of 5,000, public executions would soon be banned by the WV Legislature. The historic Alpine Theatre, 210 W. Main Street in Ripley, is the site for the 45-minute documentary. 2:00 PM December 16
