Caption: Governor William Marland presents Cornelius Louis Burdette of Sandstone with the West Virginia Distinguished Service Medal in 1954. Burdette was a National Guardsmen who won the equivalent of a gold medal in the 1912 Stockholm Olympics in the team rifle competition.
