The article states that the Mingo Oak had a dbh of 8 feet, yet the image clearly shows that the diameter at a height of 4.5 feet (dbh, probably the tops of the heads of the medium-sized children) is more like 6 feet. Indeed, in 1938, the circumference was measured at 4.5 feet height and found to be 19 feet and 9 inches. Diameter was then calculated by dividing the circumference by pi, which gave nearly 6.3 feet (75 inches) as the dbh.
