I was a Paramedic in Parsons at the time. I remember going door to door trying to get folks to evacuate. A lot of them refused to leave. We were wading backed up water to our waists at the time. Between the frustration of people refusing to leave, my fear of water, and being cold, I never once thought about my own home. It wasn’t until the next morning that I truly understood that everything I owned was gone with the waters.
