About Dunmore’s men after the Battle of Point Pleasent: On Nov 5, 1774, at Fort Gower “near the mouth of the Hocking River a meeting was called and after speeches had been made, a set of resolutions was drawn and signed. These resolutions went on to say, among other things, that they would be loyal subjects of King George Third just as long as he reigned over free people, but their love for American liberty outweighed all things else and they would consider it their duty to defend their own country first.”
