The Van Camp school was a one-room school that was part of the old pre-Civil War community of Van Camp along present Route 180 south of New Martinsville. My mother, grandmother, and many community people attended the school. If anyone as pictures of this lovely structure, please let me know. My recent book, Growing Up Appalachian refers to the school. I wish it were more well known, but time has almost lost it to memory.
