I am very interested in this article because my husband’s great grandfather had a store in Guyandotte that was burned and he was taken prisoner by the Union and taken to Chase Prison. While he was there, he lost his mind and was later sent to the mental hospital in Weston, WV. He was born in 1826 and died there on October 9, 1912.
